Momentum building for Greens' deadlock-breaking carbon levy

Interim levy press conf

There is strong public support for the Greens' proposal to break the climate action deadlock with an immediate levy on the biggest polluters.

Environment groups, including those which last year backed the government's CPRS, are now unified behind the Greens' proposal.

It's well and truly time for the Rudd government to accelerate the negotiations towards this plan, which started in February but stalled when the government dropped climate action from its priorities.

The Greens are moving to have the proposal introduced in the next parliamentary sitting, so it can be made law before winter.

ACT: email your local MP to ask them to get behind this simple levy on polluters.
