On Monday afternoon we hustled off from the COP venue to a Side Event down in the beachside suburb of Miraflores. Well, hustled might be a bit of an exaggeration considering we were on a bus. The bus trip was slow but it is quite relaxing to have no wi-fi and no meetings for some downtime at the end of a long day. And good for readying the mind for a Side Event about the responsibility of the major carbon polluters, in this case emissions broken down by company, rather than state party. Very interesting for Australian extractive companies and their future liabilities.
The upside of the timing was, however, that we arrived at Miraflores just before the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. With locals and tourists lined up along the coastal lookout, silence fell over the bustling crowds as the golden orange orb sunk into the sea. Beautiful to take a tourist moment before getting back to doing the hustle - Emma
