Australian Greens Leader Christine Milne says the Prime Minister is touring drought stricken farms and turning a blind eye to the impacts of global warming.
"Tony Abbott is touring drought stricken farms with his head buried in the dust bowl, doing everything he can to pretend global warming is not happening" Senator Milne said.
"It's cruel and craven to tell farmers you care about them and the drought when you are doing everything you can to tear down global warming policy that will help them in the long term.
"Just in the last week the Prime Minister's ignorance on global warming has been shown up by the likes of US President Barack Obama, Secretary of State John Kerry, IMF chief Christine Lagarde and Sir Nicholas Stern.
"Meanwhile, Tony Abbott's coal mates in the Minerals Council are driving coal seam gas, expanding coal mining and seeking to boost future profits by changing World Bank rules to guarantee coal exports to developing countries that will fuel global warming and future extreme droughts.
"Tony Abbott and his coal mining mates oppose action on global warming and want the carbon farming initiative, the RET and the Clean Energy Finance Corporation destroyed in spite of the benefits to farmers.
"The Prime Minister's drought tour is little more than a public relations exercise. He is the friend of fossil fuel polluters, not farmers."
