Whaling violence unacceptable
The Australian Greens condemn the actions of Japanese whaling ships ramming the Sea Shepherd vessel the Bob Barker.
"These violent and dangerous actions that risk lives at sea are outrageous and totally unacceptable" Leader of the Greens Senator Christine Milne said.
"I call on the Government to act swiftly to condemn this violence, and send a naval vessel down to monitor the situation."
"I simply can't believe the inaction by the Government on this issue. The Government has the capacity to do far more to end the threat of whaling in Australian waters, but they remain reluctant to step up to the plate," Greens Fisheries and Marine spokesperson Senator Rachel Siewert said.
"They must now take action - an injunction should be applied for immediately to end this season's hunt".
