Australia's tertiary students should be reassured that a vote for the Greens is a vote for improved learning and living, says Australian Greens Deputy Leader, Christine Milne.

Senator Milne is attending a ‘Vote for Students' rally hosted by the Tasmanian University Union in Hobart today, where calls will be made for political parties to improve living and learning conditions for tertiary students.

"Putting money into learning now will reap major rewards for Tasmania. Students are our future. They are the future innovators, the future state and nation builders.

Australia's students are feeling let down by a federal government which fails to fully recognise the value of tertiary education in Australia, says Australian Greens Deputy Leader, Christine Milne.

Senator Milne is attending a ‘Pollie Pledge' signing hosted by the Tasmanian University Union in Launceston today, calling for politicians to use their vote in parliament for students.

"Put simply, students are our future. They are the people who one day will form the backbone of our nation, from world class renewable energy experts to rural nurses and doctors.

Across Tasmania, school students and their teachers are moving into new energy efficient buildings thanks to the Greens using balance of power responsibly in the Senate, Australian Greens Senator Christine Milne said today.

"Yesterday I was at Bruny Island Primary School and a few weeks ago at Moonah Primary and it was wonderful to see the new facilities which have created local jobs and better working environments in schools.

Australian Greens Deputy Leader, Christine Milne says she is thrilled about the number of Tasmanian schools embracing fresh and healthy food programs for their students.

"It's so encouraging to see lots of schools embracing healthy lifestyles and encouraging the growing of fresh, seasonal food," said Senator Milne who visited Bruny Island District School today.
