Mr Palmer must clarify vague global warming policy

The Greens are celebrating the fact that Greens, Labor and Mr Palmer will use the Senate to block the repeal of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, Renewable Energy Target and Climate Change Authority, but are extremely sceptical about Mr Palmer's vague support for an emissions trading scheme.

"It is fantastic that the Senate will save the renewable energy institutions that the Greens established in the last Parliament. These critical institutions are reducing pollution, saving the government money and creating jobs in new industries," Greens Leader Christine Milne said.

DD trigger ready as Greens save CEFC

The Australian Greens along with communities around Australia are celebrating the survival of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation, which Tony Abbott has now twice failed to abolish through the Parliament.

"The Senate won't stand for Tony Abbott's head-in-the-sand approach on global warming, and we're not afraid of a double dissolution election over renewable energy," said Greens Leader Senator Christine Milne.

"It's time for Mr Abbott to give up. The CEFC is an excellent institution that should stay.

Greens to set up renewable energy double dissolution trigger before July

Greens Leader Christine Milne will move in the Senate to defeat the government's plan to abolish investment in renewable energy and set up a double dissolution trigger.

The Greens have received advice from the Clerk of the Senate which indicates a first double dissolution trigger can be achieved before the new Senate takes its place on July 1 by bringing on a second vote on the repeal of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).

"When Tony Abbott says Australia is open for business, jobs and prosperity, he means prosperity for his big-business mates. Tony Abbott's Australia is not open to the clever, 21st century jobs of the clean, low carbon economy," Senator Milne said.

PM Abbott must get real on climate or risk damaging US relationship

The Australian Greens say Tony Abbott is risking Australia's constructive relationship with the United States by seeking to undo existing climate change policies, refusing to put climate on the G20 agenda and retreating from global action.

"Tony Abbott absolutely has his head in the sand on climate change. It's a national disaster and a global embarrassment as China and the USA get serious about the 2015 treaty," said Greens Leader Christine Milne.

Abbott stuck in reverse while Obama takes action on global warming

Responding to President Obama's new and more ambitious climate policy, the Greens say Australia is being leapfrogged by the US when it comes to taking action to reduce carbon pollution, because of Tony Abbott's last century and anti-science policy to abolish the price on pollution.

"President Obama has shown up the Prime Minister as completely out of step on global warming. Barrack is moving forward but Tony is stuck in reverse," Greens Leader Christine Milne said.
