100 days, 40 failures: a preview of secretive, cruel and chaotic government

Releasing a list of the Abbott government's top failures, the Australian Greens say the first 100 days have been a secretive, cruel and chaotic preview of what is to come.

"During the election campaign the Abbott government's true agenda was hidden behind cheap rhetoric, but you can't run a country with a slogan," said Australian Greens Leader Christine Milne.

"The Abbott government has tried to claim a so-called mandate to take Australia back to the last century, but he doesn't have one.

Climate sceptic Tony Abbott will never address global warming

Tony Abbott has abandoned any pretence of caring about global warming.

"Tony Abbott is not fit to serve as Prime Minister because this is the critical decade to address the climate emergency," Greens Leader Senator Christine Milne said.

"By abandoning even the meagre bipartisan 5%-25% target for emissions reduction, he has relegated Australia to global laggard as negotiations are now underway for a 2015 treaty.

"Once a sceptic, always a sceptic is the best way to describe the would-be PM. A man who maintains that global warming is ‘crap'.

Greens launch campaign to stop Abbott getting total control

The Australian Greens have launched a national advertising campaign to stop Tony Abbott getting total control of the parliament.

The Greens have also released details of a new opinion poll which shows 56% of Australians do not want one political party to have total control of both houses of Parliament.

"Mr Abbott wants total control of the parliament and for the Senate to wave through policies he won't even come clean on. That's where the Greens come in," Australian Greens Leader Senator Christine Milne said.
