Flood warning: We must prepare for global warming

Australian Greens climate change spokesperson, Senator Christine Milne, today passed on the Greens' support and concern to those whose homes and property were damaged in this week's floods, and called on all levels of government in Australia to do more to prepare for climate change impacts.

Senator Milne said "Our thoughts today go out to all those who are faced with cleaning up the devastation wrought by floods in recent days. Once again we thank the SES and countless others who worked so hard to limit the damage.

PM Howard out of touch on nuclear - just as with Snowy Hydro: Greens

Prime Minister John Howard is out of touch with the community in promoting nuclear power, Australian Greens climate change and energy spokesperson Senator Christine Milne said today.  
"Just as the Prime Minister was shown to have misjudged public concern about the sale of the Snowy Hydro power scheme, he has misjudged Australians' concern about nuclear power," Senator Milne said in Hobart.

Heat on government as nation swelters: Greens

The hottest year on record in Australia is further evidence that climate change is already affecting all Australians, Greens climate change spokesperson Senator Christine Milne said today.  
"The Howard government's refusal to join the global community in addressing climate change for over a decade has left communities without the strategic planning to ameliorate the effects of extreme weather events from floods, fires, droughts and heatwaves," Senator Milne said in Hobart.
